A Better Debit Card Experience!

At Valley 1st Credit Union, we know how important it is to have a debit card you can count on. That’s why we’re upgrading our card processing system to provide you with a more reliable, secure, and convenient experience. As part of this transition, all members will receive a new debit card.

General Information

  • Valley 1st is modernizing its debit cards with new touchless cards.

  • In addition to the touchless card, in early summer you will have card controls inside the mobile app and Apple and Google Pay will be available.

  • The conversion date is 5/5/2025. You should receive your new card around 2 weeks prior.

Activation & Usage

  • You may activate the card by calling 1 (800) 992-3808 as soon as you receive it. However, you can’t use it until 5/5/25. Up until that time you should continue to use your old card.

  • Once your card has been activated, you can start using it on 5/5/25.

  • Look for the contactless symbol on the payment terminal. It looks like a sideways wi-fi signal. When prompted, top or hold our card flat against the contactless symbol. Wait for the terminal to beep or light up green to confirm the transaction.

Billing & Payments

However, if a merchant doesn’t participate then the transaction will not go through. Updating this information will ensure that all payments are processed accordingly.

  • After 5/4/25, merchants who don’t participate in Visa Account Updater will not receive payment. Therefore, it is recommended you update any recurring payments and subscriptions.

  • No, your direct deposits and automatic withdrawals will continue to process as usual without any interruptions. You do not need to take any action, and your scheduled transactions will remain unchanged. If you experience any issues, please reach out to us for assistance.

Old Card & Security

  • Your old debit card will remain active through 5/4. On 5/5 you will need to destroy the old debit card as it will not work.
